Job summary

Acadia Healthcare's Appleton Comprehensive Treatment Center in Appleton, WI, is seeking a Part Time Substance Use Counselor to join its outpatient MAT program. The 16-hour/week role offers a 4:30 AM–11:30 AM shift, supporting patients in recovery with individual and group counseling, assessments, and care planning.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in social or health services field.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social or health services preferred.
• Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings (outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities).
• Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT): methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone.
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions for substance use recovery.
• Knowledge of CBT, MI, and relapse prevention techniques.
• Documentation experience: clinical notes, treatment plans, progress updates per guidelines.
• Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
• Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams with medical staff, case managers, and peers.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality counseling in individual and group sessions.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient’s recovery.
• Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure timely and clear documentation of patient care, treatment, and incidents.
• Prepare individual treatment plans for each patient.
• Conduct initial assessments and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and referrals to other programs as needed.
• May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
• Provide crisis intervention to patients as needed.
• Provide case management to ensure individualized quality care.
• Act as liaison between referral sources and patients as needed.
