Job summary

YMCA of San Diego is seeking a Master Swim Coach to lead structured workouts for a diverse Masters program. The role emphasizes stroke technique, endurance, and safety, aligning with YMCA and USA Swimming guidelines to create an inclusive, premier adult aquatics experience.

The position is part-time (Tue/Thu 6:30am-7:30am) with responsibilities ranging from on-deck coaching to safety oversight and program updates for participants.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18
• 4+ years of competitive swimming or aquatic coaching experience
• Current BLS certification from Red Cross, AHA, or IHS
• Ability to obtain Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving certification within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Prepare and execute Masters swim workouts for a diverse range of athletes.
• Provide real-time analysis and feedback on stroke mechanics to improve performance.
• Enforce pool safety and respond to emergencies per aquatic protocols.
• Offer in-person support and communicate schedule changes and program updates to participants.
• Inspect pool area and equipment daily; report hazards to Aquatics Director/Coordinator.
• Oversee use and maintenance of swim team equipment; communicate repairs as needed.
• Represent the Masters swim program professionally to members, families, and partners.
