Qualifications

Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent education (high school diploma plus a two-year technical college degree).
Three to four years of relevant industry experience.
Machining, welding, foundry experience.
Proficiency in advanced shop mathematics, including the interpretation of complex drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
Expertise with a wide range of adjustable measuring instruments and technical procedures.
Program and operate various computer-controlled equipment, including robots, lathes, milling machines, and coordinate measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

Provide support for laboratory classes and research projects.
Assist with safety training and safety monitoring within Labs.
Assist with equipment training for faculty, students, and staff within Labs.
Perform machinist duties: maintenance, set up, and operation of equipment such as milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and saws.
Execute foundry work: operation of green sand system, mold making, and induction furnaces.
Perform welders duties: maintenance, set up, and operation of various types of welding procedures.
Perform various types of destructive and non-destructive material testing.
