Job summary

Elderwood at Wheatfield in Wheatfield, NY is seeking a part-time Maintenance Assistant to keep resident areas safe and well‑maintained. You will support electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds tasks while upholding safety and confidentiality.

This role requires basic tool experience, reliable transportation, and willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed; on-call duties may apply. The position offers meaningful interaction with residents and a chance to contribute to a caring

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Minimum one year of related work experience in maintenance, carpentry, contracting, etc.
• Current, valid driver license.
• Participation in facility on-call program which may include working off-hours.
• Experienced in equipment operation such as small hand tools, electric tools, lawn mowers, snowblowers, etc.
• HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Display of genuine concern for the elderly and a dependable, patient attitude toward residents.
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or higher level.

Responsibilities

• Assists with and performs duties related to electricity, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and mechanical systems maintenance.
• Maintains grounds, parking lots, and driveways including snow/ice removal.
• Handles freight and moves heavy furniture and equipment.
• Observes residents' rights and treats residents with courtesy and respect.
• Drives company vehicle as needed.
• Attends facility and staff meetings; participates in required inservices.
• Follows safety rules and standards of practice to ensure safety of staff, residents and visitors.
• Demonstrates integrity, confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or Administrator.
