Job summary

The University of Southern Maine is seeking a part‑time Sports Information Assistant (24 hours/week, 10 months) to support athletics communications, live broadcasts, statistics, and digital content across Husky Athletics from the Gorham campus.

You will lead home events streamed on FloSports, supervise student workers, manage equipment, and help with game notes, recaps, and media content while upholding NCAA Division III values and a student‑focused approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in sports communications, journalism, media production, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of NCAA statistical programs (e.g., NCAA LiveStats, StatCrew, Genius Sports).
• Experience in live video production, preferably in a collegiate or interscholastic athletics setting.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and a flexible schedule based on athletic events.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the coordinator and lead producer for assigned home athletic events streamed on FloSports, in alignment with Little East Conference broadcast standards.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise student workers and on‑air talent, including camera operators, replay personnel, graphics operators, and commentators.
• Manage and maintain video production equipment and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
• Assist with game‑day operations, including statistics, live scoring, game notes, and postgame recaps in accordance with NCAA and Little East Conference policies.
• Support timely updates to the USM Athletics website as assigned.
• Promote student‑athlete, team, and departmental achievements through written content.
• Contribute to conference and NCAA reporting requirements as assigned.
• Uphold the NCAA Division III philosophy, emphasizing sportsmanship, equity, and the student‑athlete experience.
