The Young Mens Christian Association Of Southwestern Indiana is seeking a part-time lifeguard to ensure patron safety in the Evansville pool area. The role emphasizes adherence to safety policies and supervision of youth.

Candidates must complete required trainings (CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, Bloodborne pathogens, and Child Abuse Prevention) within 60 days and be at least 15 years old, with Red Cross Lifeguard certification or willingness to obtain it.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen and Blood‑borne Pathogen training required within 60 days of employment.
• Child Abuse Prevention training required before/on first day of working with youth.
• At least 15 years of age.
• Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard or willingness to be certified.
• Pass a skills test upon hire including, but not limited to: 300‑yard swim and submerged passive rescue.

Responsibilities

• Enforce pool rules and supervise youth in a polite manner.
• Respond to emergencies by activating the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
• Monitor and maintain safe pool conditions and chemical levels.
• Attend shifts and in‑service meetings.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
