GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general supervision, assists in ensuring customer satisfaction and safety for employees, members, and visitors at DAS REC, including aquatic facilities and programs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are not exhaustive but represent the primary responsibilities. Employees may perform additional duties as required:

• Assist in delivering high-quality aquatic programs and services to the community.
• Prepare and maintain facilities, including DAS REC, in a safe condition aligned with community needs and legal requirements.
• Promote departmental programs and coordinate city-wide events.
• Open and close aquatic areas appropriately.
• Conduct water tests, enforce pool rules, and ensure safety.
• Prevent injuries and hazardous situations.
• Provide safety surveillance and respond to emergencies.
• Instruct in swimming, water safety, and aquatic programming for various age groups.
• Complete cleaning duties and attend scheduled training.
• Maintain rescue skills at a rescue-ready level.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Must be at least 15 years old and have one year of customer service/public interaction experience; aquatic facility experience is preferred.

Required Licenses or Certifications

• Valid Texas Driver's License
• American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer, and Emergency Oxygen certifications (must be obtained before employment).
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is preferred.
