Job summary

City of Pearland, TX is seeking a Part-Time Lifeguard to lead and improve day-to-day operations of the Parks and Recreation department. This role requires you to monitor pool safety, enforce rules, and provide excellent customer service to facility users.

• Record log of pool chemicals every two hours.
• Set up facilities for reservations and events.
• Work days, evenings and weekends as required.

Job description

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Part-Time Lifeguard to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Parks and Recreation department.

If you are an experienced swimmer with an eagle eye to detect danger in and around large swimming pool areas, you have a customer centric focus, and can multi-task, this may be a fun and rewarding job for you.

The Part-Time Lifeguard earns a competitive salary of $14.07 - $14.93/hour based on qualifications. We also offer access to the city's recreation fitness center.

Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to enforce rules and regulations, and provide safety and welfare to patrons.

Essential Functions

• Regular and timely attendance at work as scheduled.
• Serve as lifeguard and monitor safety of aquatic facility patrons; enforce safety policies and procedures.
• Initiate rescues, administer First Aid and/or CPR.
• Provide exemplary customer service to all facility users.
• Perform daily maintenance functions of cleaning deck, restrooms, grounds, and building.
• Immediately report unsafe equipment, facility, chemical, or other issues to management.
• Check and log pool chemicals every two hours to ensure pools are safe for swimming.
• Insert and remove lane lines as needed and ensure lanes are marked for current reservations.
• Check all areas of natatorium facility to ensure safety of patrons and report unsafe items.
• Perform opening and/or closing procedures as directed.
• Set up and convert pools and facility for competitions and other reservations.

Additional Duties

• Attend bi-weekly in-services to practice skills and maintain certifications.
• Provide excellent customer service when patrons ask questions or have concerns.
• Perform related work as assigned.
• Work days, evenings and weekends as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Entry level education for this position does not require completion of high school. Minimum age for consideration is 16 years of age.

Special Certifications and Licenses

• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
