Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Big Lake Residential Treatment Center

Brief Description

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the new Nystrom Residential Treatment Center in Big Lake, MN, you will be part of a team helping adult individuals in their substance abuse recovery process by providing a safe, stable environment. The environment is clinically managed by Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors (LADCs), nursing staff, and mental health professionals. Our 54-bed residential facility is designed to provide Substance Use Disorder and Co-Occurring services to men and women over 18 years of age.

Responsibilities Include

• Deliver high-quality care by administering and monitoring medications, treatments, and daily cares.
• Complete technical admission and discharge procedures for patients entering and leaving the unit.
• Participate as a key member of the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans based on the individual needs of each patient.
• Work under the direction of the Residential Registered Nurse.
• Answer calls regarding medications in coordination with the patient's Medication Provider.
• Review, prioritize, and respond to patient and provider messages within 24 hours in coordination with the provider.
• Meet with patients as needed to discuss medication side effects and concerns.
• Refill medications as directed by Providers or per policy & procedure.
• Coordinate with insurance companies for medication authorizations.
• Request lab results from clinics and laboratories.
• Process incoming medical reports and forms promptly.
• Review and prioritize lab results within 24 hours of receipt; transcribe results within 48 hours.
• Perform clinical duties like rooming patients, measuring vital signs, and other assessments as requested.

Schedule

Weekends only. Flexible daytime and evening hours available. Must be able to work both Saturday and Sunday for 8 hours each.

Requirements

• Graduation from an approved nursing program.
• Possession of Minnesota Practical Nurse licensure.
• Adherence to Nystrom Alcohol and Drug Testing Policy.
• First Aid and CPR Certification on date of hire, maintained throughout employment.
• Training or experience in counseling/First Aid preferred.
• Meet DHS and SLF program requirements.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Professional and positive demeanor.
• Pass DHS Background Check.
• Ability to relate to diverse populations with multiple issues.
