Job summary

Brazoria County Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to sort, shelve, and maintain the orderly appearance of library materials. You will provide public help with catalogs, electronic resources, and related services.

The 16-hour weekly shift spans Monday through Saturday, with some evenings. Applicants should be at least 16 and have completed two years of high school, and be prepared to support library programs and outreach as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and have completed 2 years of high school.

Responsibilities

• Sorts and shelves all library materials according to Dewey Decimal System.
• Shelf-reads, organizes, straightens, and shifts collections as necessary.
• Provides public assistance in use of collections, catalogs, electronic resources, and related services.
• Assists with library programs and outreach, including preparation and presentation as needed.
• Answers telephone calls and performs office-related tasks as necessary.
