Job summary

Monroe County Public Library in Bloomington, IN, is seeking a part-time security assistant to patrol, monitor, and protect library facilities and patrons. You will respond to incidents, complete reports, and assist with events and training as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; post high school coursework preferred.
• First aid training and CPR/AED certification required; may be obtained within 3 months.
• Police training or security experience preferred; minimum 1 year of related safety/security experience.
• Valid Indiana Driver’s License required; library systems experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Make regular rounds to inspect building conditions and monitor surroundings.
• Use communication and problem solving to respond to emergencies; de-escalate as needed.
• Open/close procedures and secure public doors at appropriate times.
• Review security logs and incident reports; maintain records and assist with reports.
• Compose and distribute incident reports and stay updated on watch lists.
