Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Media Technician for State Road Elementary to operate the school library and support literacy initiatives. The role requires coordinating media services for students, teachers, and administration in a friendly, organized manner.

The position emphasizes helping students with research, using library software, and promoting 21st century literacy in a collaborative school setting. 29 hours weekly at a pay rate shown below.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have a High School Diploma and experience working with children.
• Ability to assist classroom teachers in preparing students for 21st century library activities.
• Strong knowledge of modern office methods and productivity tools (Google Docs, MS Office, etc.).
• Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to collaborate with staff, students and parents.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and follow board policies and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and willing to participate in required training.
• Knowledge of computers and library equipment and software, including automated library systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide media services for students, teachers, and administration under supervision.
• Apply circulation, organization and storage procedures for media center resources.
• Process and inventory print and non-print materials using library systems.
• Orient students and staff to catalog, online research and library resources.
• Assist students with media center programs and projects.
• Support teachers by providing materials for curriculum delivery and digital resources.
• Assist students in search strategies and digital research.
• Collaborate with staff to promote literacy and digital citizenship.
• Maintain a clean, organized and inviting media center environment.
