Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience, preferably in a public library.
• Spanish fluency a plus; strong commitment to public service.
• Knowledge of general record keeping, library circulation, and privacy practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous, and accurate service to all library users.
• Check out and check in library materials; collect fines; issue library cards; explain policies.
• Answer the library’s main telephone number and direct calls to appropriate departments.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patron files; handle monetary transactions with accuracy.
• Assist with interlibrary loan procedures and shelving; keep areas tidy and organized.
• Enforce library policies and resolve patron disputes; aid with openings/closings.
