Job summary

Metropolitan Community College is seeking a part-time Library Assistant at the Fort Omaha Campus to support students, faculty and staff in using research resources. Responsibilities include teaching patrons to use catalogs and databases, handling circulation, accounts, and basic AV equipment, and assisting with acquisitions and cataloging while providing excellent customer service.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to work with a diverse community; 28 hours

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required.
• 1 year of work-related experience.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish helpful.
• Must pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Instructs patrons in using online library catalogs and databases to locate information.
• Answers reference questions and provides assistance to patrons.
• Checks material in and out, explains circulation policies to customers.
• Registers customers for new library cards; renews cards.
• Accepts money for fines and fees, balances cash drawer, prepares deposits.
• Assists in maintaining catalog and serials holdings list.
