Job summary

The Kansas City Public Library is hiring for two part-time positions at Trails West Branch. Each role offers 20 hours per week at $17.07 per hour, based in Trails West Branch, 11401 East 23rd Street, Kansas City, MO. Two shifts available, with weekend coverage and flexible afternoons.

Staff provide circulation and registration services, assist patrons with computers and databases, and support programs. This is a customer-focused, community-oriented role at a public library.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to learn library operations and policies.
• Able to lift up to 10–15 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Check materials in and out; issue library cards; collect fines and charges; update patron records in the computer; explain circulation policies; process reserve items.
• Maintain courteous relationships with patrons and staff.
• Assist patrons with databases, computers, and software.
• Answer telephone courteously and route calls as needed.
• Lift and shelve materials weighing up to 10–15 lbs.
• Process Interlibrary Loan requests.
• Support branch programs such as Kid’s café, teen events, and notary services.
