Job summary

Montclair Public Library in Montclair, NJ, is seeking a Library Assistant for the Adult School to help make classes happen on the ground. You will set up rooms, guide instructors through using Zoom, process registrations and payments, answer the department inbox, and check student laptops in and out at night.

You will work closely with the Programming Associate, Programming Librarian and the Head of Adult School, and you will be trained on all equipment and systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of customer service or office experience.
• Comfort with Macs and PCs and willingness to adapt to new technologies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lift up to 30 pounds and move equipment.
• Ability to work some evening hours.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down library rooms for classes, including A/V equipment.
• Operate projectors, microphones, and Zoom sessions for classes.
• Process student registrations and payments and maintain rosters.
• Serve as first contact for students and instructors in person, by phone, and by email.
• Track laptops and classroom media materials; keep inventory current.
• Provide general office support including filing, correspondence, and supplies.
• Assist patrons with basic technology questions and troubleshooting.
• Other duties as assigned.
