Base pay range

$32.95/hr - $50.24/hr

Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) is a leading provider of legal research, practical guidance, and continuing legal education (CLE) for California attorneys. A nonprofit program of the University of California, UCLA Extension, CEB has supported the legal profession since 1947 through high-quality legal information in print, online, and live formats. CEB serves a wide range of practitioners—from solo attorneys to large firms—offering resources designed to improve practice and support professional growth.

Position Overview

CEB is seeking a Part-Time Legal Content Specialist to support the planning, coordination, and development of legal education programming. This role involves identifying relevant legal topics, recruiting expert speakers, and assisting in the delivery of legal education content in both live and on-demand formats. In addition to supporting educational programming, the role will also contribute to the day-to-day operational tasks of the team, providing logistical and administrative support across a variety of programs and services. This flexibility is especially important as the team implements new initiatives aligned with CEB’s strategic growth efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination, development, and delivery of legal education programming across various formats, including live and on-demand offerings.
  • Identify current and emerging legal topics relevant to California practitioners.
  • Recruit, engage, and support legal professionals as speakers and content contributors.
  • Assist with scheduling, speaker logistics, and content documentation.
  • Ensure program materials meet quality and compliance standards.
  • Maintain project tracking systems and internal documentation.
  • Support implementation of new content initiatives and formats.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; professional and confident when interacting with legal professionals.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Experience in legal content development, CLE, or professional education preferred.
  • Familiarity with California legal practice areas is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, and project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Notion).
  • Experience in speaker coordination, legal publishing, or event planning is desirable.

Education & Experience

  • Juris Doctor (JD), paralegal certification, or equivalent legal work experience preferred.

Special Conditions for Employment

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
  • Occasional travel (up to 5%) may be required.
