Part‑Time Lecturer Pool – Mechanical Engineering (Solano Campus)

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

Mechanical Engineering – Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. The Mechanical Engineering Department at Cal Poly invites applications for possible temporary part‑time position(s) available as determined by need for the 2026-27 academic year. Teaching assignments will be in fundamental or advanced mechanical engineering courses.

Education

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.

Classification salary ranges as of July 2024:

  • Lecturer A: $5,507–$6,677
  • Lecturer B: $6,221–$13,224
  • Lecturer C: $6,825–$14,523
  • Lecturer D: $8,593–$15,211

Required Qualifications
  • ​A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to student‑centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ​A graduate degree is preferred.
  • Teaching and/or industrial experience is preferred.
  • Applicants with extensive industry experience are encouraged to apply.

Special Conditions
