About the Opportunity
We invite applications for Part‑time Lecturer (PTL) positions at the graduate level. We seek a colleague with expertise in bioinformatics and computational genomics to teach BIOL 6216 Applied Bioinformatics for the Cell and Gene Therapy Master's Programs, depending on program needs and enrollment. This course introduces foundational bioinformatics concepts, computational techniques, and programming skills essential for analyzing genomic and sequencing data, particularly in the context of genetic modification and therapeutic genome editing.
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field, and have at least three to five years of experience in bioinformatics, preferably in a therapeutic or research setting. They should have demonstrated experience teaching or supporting graduate‑level courses, particularly in bioinformatics or genomic data analysis, and possess strong programming skills in languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python and R. Candidates should also have experience with genomic data analysis tools and platforms, including NGS pipelines, RNA‑seq, or variant calling, and a strong understanding of cell and gene therapy concepts and applications. Effective communication skills, an open and supportive teaching style, and prior experience in a diverse higher education environment are also highly desirable.
