Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a Learning Support Specialist 2 to work in person with students, providing tutoring in their area of expertise.

The LSS2 helps students develop studying and critical thinking skills using varied tutoring strategies and participates in program operations and outreach activities. The role requires a strong command of subject matter, the ability to engage students, and a commitment to ongoing professional development; paid training is provided.

Qualifications

• Two items: related academic support experience and knowledge of tutoring methods.
• Six months of teaching, tutoring, supplemental instruction experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students in learning concepts in tutor area.
• Help students develop effective studying, time management and critical thinking skills.
• Meet with students by appointment and as drop-ins.
• Maintain documentation of tutoring sessions and progress.
• Assist with training and mentoring of Peer Learning Success Leaders and new LSS2s.
• Contribute to tutoring program operations and outreach events.
