Job summary

Chicago Magnesium Casting and Midwest Aerospace Casting, LLC. is seeking an engineering support professional to assist the Engineering Department with continuous improvement initiatives, 3D design and fixture work, and lean manufacturing projects.

The role involves collaborating with shop personnel, ensuring safety, and understanding customer requirements and scrap challenges. You will model castings in CAD, participate in MRB for defect root-cause analysis, and work with engineers to improve

Qualifications

Engineering degree in a mechanical or aerospace field; transcript requested.
SolidWorks CAD experience preferred; proficiency in 3D design.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to accuracy, thoroughness and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

Design, create, print and test 3D fixtures for production needs using inputs from production team.
Develop understanding of lean manufacturing principles and CI tools.
Interpret customer requirements and address scrap challenges and rework.
Participate in MRB to identify root causes of defects in production.
Analyze processes and engineering changes to improve productivity, quality, and on-time delivery.
Collaborate with technical writers to update work instructions after process improvements.
Model castings and gating systems in CAD for simulation use.
Work with engineers to fix process/design issues leading to scrap production.
Handle any other duties assigned by the company and management.
