Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a part-time legal assistant to support Workers' Compensation processes. Responsibilities include researching legal issues, drafting briefs, and assisting in hearings while ensuring confidentiality and clear documentation.

The role requires enrollment in or recent graduation from an ABA-accredited law school and strong research, writing, and organizational skills. 20 hours per week, hourly pay of $20.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and prepare briefs for individual cases.
• Consult with a Commissioner, offering legal recommendations on cases.
• Draft, review, and edit the Commissioners order instructions and orders for clarity and accuracy.
• Assist in the courtroom with hearings.
• Review and summarize written evidence and exhibits, including medical records.
• Prepare memos and decisions with clear reasoning.
