Harmonic in San Jose, CA seeks a part-time Computer Equipment Room Technician to support the LIFT lab. You will report to the Lab Manager and help prepare, test, and inventory lab equipment, collaborating with remote and onsite engineers on configurations and troubleshooting.

The role emphasizes following procedures, handling equipment safely, and adapting to multiple tasks across CATV, fiber, and optical configurations in a lab setting.

Qualifications

• Follow protocols and procedures accurately.
• Lift up to 35 lbs with assistance.
• Work on feet, bend and climb ladders.
• Basic computer equipment knowledge; Ubuntu and CLI exposure.
• Follow lab safety protocols.
• Adapt to multiple projects and tasks.
• Experience in CATV cable modem operations.
• Experience in 19” 45 RU rack mounting.
• Experience in optical configurations.

Responsibilities

• Assist LIFT Lab team on equipment staging.
• Improve lab environment: coax cables, fiber optics, Cat6 wiring.
• Prepare equipment for shipping.
• Assist in equipment inventory and accounting.
• Collaborate with remote team on testing and configuration.
• Collaborate with onsite engineer on troubleshooting.
