Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Universal Health Services, is a 170-bed acute care hospital in Reno, NV, offering 24/7 ER, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, NICU and surgical services.

This Lab Assistant role is part-time with full benefits. You will perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling, manage phlebotomy records, and support patient safety and timely test processing.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• State Laboratory Assistant licensure required
• Current BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Draws blood competently, consistently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
• Records phlebotomy requisitions on log.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Labels and records all test tubes, logs procedures and files paperwork.
• Completes duties in a time efficient manner, knows how to prioritize STAT orders, ASAP orders, scheduled orders and outpatients.
