Job summary

UC Santa Barbara seeks a part-time Laboratory Assistant 1 (50% FTE) in the NRII Neuroscience Research Institute, located at 3171 Biology II building. The role provides routine operational and administrative support, maintains basic laboratory functions, and ensures safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with up to 1 year in a lab/technical setting.
• Experience following written protocols and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• 75% Laboratory management: maintain organization, handle waste streams, and EH&S compliance.
• 15% Procurement: order supplies and coordinate with vendors and facilities.
• 10% Record keeping: assist with lab docs and onboarding logistics.
