Job summary

Portland Community College invites applications for its Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in Journalism. This pool will be used to identify candidates for substitute and term-class assignments as needs arise during the academic year.

Qualified individuals may teach courses based on available needs. Instructors should review PCC course offerings and demonstrate ability to align with program goals while supporting equity and inclusion within our college community.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in the listed fields or related area; 30 graduate quarter hours in the subject area or professional competence.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Communications, or Journalism; 2+ years of professional experience in mass media.

Responsibilities

• Be available for part-time teaching assignments in journalism as needed during the academic year.
• Review and indicate which PCC courses you can teach.
• Participate in college activities and uphold PCC’s equity and inclusion priorities.

Education

Master’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Speech Communication, Mass Communication, or Communications

Master’s degree in a related area (e.g. History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology)

Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Communications, or Journalism
