Job summary

Portland Community College invites applications for a Part-Time Faculty pool in Japanese. The department will review applications as needs arise for new part-time instructors during the Academic Year.

This pool may include substitute and full-term teaching assignments across PCC campuses. Qualified candidates will have a Masters in Japanese or related fields, strong Japanese proficiency, and demonstrated teaching ability with current methodologies.

Qualifications

• Masters of Japanese or related (e.g. Education, Linguistics, Humanities).
• Evidence of Japanese proficiency (native or near native ability).
• Demonstrated knowledge of and proven experience with teaching language and assessing learners.
• Demonstrated intercultural competence.
• Experience teaching adult learners.
• Knowledge of cultures of the Japanese-speaking world.
• Completed a college-level course on second language teaching methodology.
