Job summary

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking three motivated student assistants to help develop, maintain, and enhance internal applications. This role is ideal for building foundational programming skills in a real-world development environment.

You will work with experienced developers, contribute to active projects, and learn modern software engineering practices. This is a part-time, non-benefited student position reporting to the West Sacramento location.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow coding standards and existing patterns in a codebase.
• Basic debugging and troubleshooting in a team setting.
• Fundamental understanding of C# and .NET Core or Blazor project structure.
• Basic SQL and relational database concepts.

Responsibilities

• Build or modify simple SQL queries, tables or stored procedures under guidance.
• Help test and debug application features and document issues.
• Assist with developing web app features using .NET Core or Blazor.
• Use Azure DevOps for source control and pull requests.
• Provide general support to the development team and learn assigned tools.
• Update documentation or READMEs as needed.
