Responsibilities

  • Teach live, on-campus sociology courses for the Sociology AA and Gen Ed requirements.
  • Courses will mostly cover introductory Soc 101; other courses may be assigned.
  • Maintain records, submit grades, and communicate with department and college personnel.
  • Develop syllabi and course materials in accordance with college policy.
  • Teach course objectives and fully utilize the department-selected textbook.
  • Evaluate student mastery of skills and meet assessment guidelines.
  • Complete assessment assignments as required.

Teaching assignments will primarily include introductory Sociology courses (SOC 101) that support the Associate of Arts in Sociology and General Education requirements across multiple degree programs. Additional Sociology courses may be assigned based on departmental needs.Core Responsibilities:Teaching Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Responsibilities include teaching live, on-campus courses in the Sociology curriculum in support of the Sociology Associate of Arts Degree and General Education requirements for other degree programs.Courses will consist mostly of introductory level (Soc 101) courses, although others may be available based on departmental needsMulti-campus teaching may be required to meet departmental needsMaintain records, submit grades, and communicate with department and college personnel using established college/department protocolDevelop syllabi and course materials in accordance with college policyTeach the course objectives and fully utilize the department-selected textbookEvaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomesProvide students with syllabi that meet college, department, and program requirementsEffectively evaluate student performance while meeting assessment guidelinesComplete assessment assignmentsRequired Qualifications:Master's degree in Sociology or Master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate credit hours in Sociology coursesPreferred Qualifications:Experience teaching College Sociology or related coursesExperience with CANVAS or other learning management systemsSkills in the use and operation of basic computer softwareSalary Information$925.00 per credit hour.
