Job summary

Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) seeks part-time instructors to teach healthcare courses. Instructors will provide high-quality instruction, assess student learning, and collaborate with the Dean to improve the learning experience. Hours vary by class and term, with openings dependent on enrollment.

Qualifications

• Minimum: an associate degree or higher with healthcare coursework completed.
• At least two years' employment in a healthcare facility performing administrative and clinical procedures.
• Preferred: current certification in medical assisting.
• Preferred: formal experience teaching in secondary or postsecondary institutions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, teach, grade, and assess patient learning in assigned courses.
• Create a quality learning environment for a diverse student population including students with disabilities or special learning needs.
• Maintain student records and provide documentation for incompletes within established CNM timelines.
• Utilize technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and department processes.
• Assist students with registration, advising, and graduation processes.
• Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with program and course outcomes.
• Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional materials, including syllabi and media.
• Convene classes as scheduled and respond to student inquiries.
• Assist students outside the classroom through posted office hours.
• Attend in-service sessions and department meetings as required.
• Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Faculty are responsible for providing high quality instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners so that each student may meet course outcomes and achieve their educational goals. An instructor is responsible for providing high quality instruction so that each student may meet course outcomes. Collaborate with the Dean and colleagues to improve the student learning experience. Being hired into the regular part-time instructor pool is not a guarantee of employment. Classes are assigned on an as-needed basis. Hours will vary each class and by term. The number of openings for instructors is dependent upon student enrollment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Utilize a variety of technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and college/school/department processes.
• Assist students with registration, advising, and graduation processes.
• Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with program and course outcomes.
• Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials,instructional media and other devices as appropriate.
• Convene classes as scheduled and respond to student inquiries.
• Assist students outside the classroom through posted office hours.
• Attend in-service sessions, college/school/department meetings, graduation and convocation as required.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Minimums Conferred associate degree or higher AND Completed coursework in a healthcare field (transcripts and/or certificates of completion required) AND At least two (2) years employment in a healthcare facility performing, supervising, or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by medical assistants

Preferences

Current certification in medical assisting (provide credential number and issuing organization)

Formal experience teaching in secondary or post secondary institutions

Special Requirements

This is a sensitive position that will require a negative urine drug screen and a cleared caregiver's criminal background check. This position will have evening and/or weekend responsibilities.
