University of California, Merced is seeking an Associate Instructor to lead instruction for lower- and upper-division courses in Engineering for AY 2026-2027. The role includes teaching under supervision, grading, and possibly leading discussion sections with office hours.

Open date is July 13, 2026 with reviews through June 30, 2027. Appointment may be up to one semester and will be 25%–50% time, starting Fall 2026 or Spring 2027, subject to faculty mentorship and program needs.

Qualifications

• One year of Teaching Assistant experience.
• Master's degree in the subject area or Advanced to Candidacy for the Ph.D.
• Maintenance of a qualifying grade point average
• Eligible to hold the appointment (Graduate Policies)
• Must be a registered UC Merced graduate student in full-time residence
• Must have passed an Oral English Proficiency Examination (if applicable)

Responsibilities

• Lead instruction of a course under supervision of a faculty mentor.
• Possible grading and discussion sections leadership.
• Hold office hours as appropriate.
