Peralta Community College District is seeking qualified Part-Time Faculty members to provide high-quality instruction and student support in accordance with the District's mission of advancing equity, student success, and academic excellence. Part-time faculty are responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive instruction that promotes student learning and achievement while supporting the diverse educational goals of the District's students.
Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District's colleges.
Possession of a Master's degree in the ethnic studies field OR Possession of a master's degree in American Studies/Ethnicity, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Central American Studies, Latin American Studies, Cross Cultural Studies, Race and Ethnic Relations, Asian-American Studies, or African-American Studies OR The equivalent ORPossession of a Master's degree in the interdisciplinary area ORPossession of a Master's degree in one of the disciplines included in the interdisciplinary area and upper division or graduate course work in at least one other constituent disciplineUnderstanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of Peralta Colleges' students, faculty, staff and community.
Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as established by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office. Applicants are required to demonstrate that they meet the minimum qualifications by submitting official or unofficial transcripts and providing a complete and detailed record of relevant professional work experience in their application materials.
The District will review education and work history to determine whether minimum qualifications are met. Determinations are made in accordance with Title 5 regulations and District procedures. Official transcripts and additional verification of employment will be required upon offer of employment.
For disciplines requiring a degree and professional experience, applicants must clearly describe how their education and work experience meet the stated minimum qualifications.
Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications exactly may apply for equivalency. Equivalency determinations are made through a separate review process in accordance with District procedures.
The Equivalency Committee will consider only those applicants who formally request equivalency consideration by submitting the Completed Equivalency Request Form. The form should be submitted to amritnamkaur@peralta.edu before the application close date.
