Job summary

Central New Mexico Community College seeks an instructor in the Health, Wellness, and Public Safety department to support the College's mission of changing lives and building community. The role offers a limited-term end date with an as-needed class assignment model and variable hours.

The instructor will teach paramedic-related courses, maintain records, and collaborate with the Dean to improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• One year full-time clinical experience as a paramedic in pre-hospital or hospital setting.
• Current New Mexico Paramedic license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, teach, grade, and assess student learning in assigned courses.
• Create a quality learning environment for diverse learners including students with disabilities.
• Maintain student records and documentation for incompletes within college timelines.
• Utilize technology-based programs to input student records and college processes.
• Assist students with registration, advising, and graduation processes.
• Structure classes to align with program outcomes and reports.
• Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional materials and media.
• Convene classes as scheduled and address student inquiries.
• Offer office hours for student support.
• Attend in-service sessions and college meetings as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Faculty are responsible for providing high quality instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners so that each student may meet course outcomes and achieve their educational goals. An instructor is responsible for providing high quality instruction so that each student may meet course outcomes. Collaborate with the Dean and colleagues to improve the student learning experience. Being hired into the regular part-time instructor pool is not a guarantee of employment. Classes are assigned on an as-needed basis. Hours will vary each class and by term. The number of openings for instructors is dependent upon student enrollment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for effectively preparing, teaching, grading, and assessing student learning in courses assigned.
• Create and model a quality learning environment to support a diverse student population including students with disabilities or special learning needs.
• Maintain student records and provide documentation for in-completes within established College timelines.
• Utilize a variety of technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and college/school/department processes.
• Assist students with registration, advising, and graduation processes.
• Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with program and course outcomes.
• Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials,instructional media and other devices as appropriate.
• Convene classes as scheduled and respond to student inquiries.
• Assist students outside the classroom through posted office hours.
• Attend in-service sessions, college/school/department meetings, graduation and convocation as required.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• One (1) year full-time clinical experience as a paramedic working in the pre-hospital or hospital setting.
• Current New Mexico Paramedic license.

Preferences

• Associates degree or higher in Emergency Medical Services from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Current certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
• Two (2) years full-time clinical experience as a paramedic working in the pre-hospital setting.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and/or PEPP certifications.
