Job summary

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) seeks a part-time instructor for the CIT Networking program to teach entry-level networking, cloud, and Linux courses. Courses may be on any CSN campus or online, with assignments varying by semester.

Qualifications include an associate degree with IT emphasis and at least 1 year of teaching experience plus 2 years of technical support. Certifications and higher degrees are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience teaching technical courses.

• Preferred: Bachelor's or higher in IT/CS/EE with relevant certifications.

Responsibilities

Part - Time Instructor, CIT Networking - FY 2027

Job Description

The CIT Networking program at CSN provides instruction in network routing-switching, Microsoft, Linux, and Cloud technologies. We are particularly interested in candidates that can teach entry-level networking, cloud, and Linux courses. This individual will be primarily responsible for teaching courses in subject matter pertaining to information technology infrastructure and technical support.

A successful candidate does not need to be qualified to teach all of the above listed courses.

Assigned courses, days, times and/or locations may vary from semester to semester.

Assignments may be any combination of classroom and online modes.

Assignments may be located on any combination of CSN's several campuses.

Assignments may be any combination of any days of the week including weekends.

Assignments may be any combination of courses for which instructor is qualified.

Teaching assignments may include one or more courses that prepare student for certifications such as:

• Comptia A+ Network+
• Cisco Certified Network Associate - CCNA
• Microsoft 365 and Azure courses
• AWS Cloud courses
• Linux

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with an information technology emphasis.
• 1 year experience teaching technical courses.
• 2 years experience providing technical support in the networking or IT support role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a major, minor, or advanced degree from a regionally accredited college or university with technical emphasis such as IT, IS, CS, EE, etc.
• Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.
• Certifications earned within the past five years including Comptia A+, Network+, Linux+, AWS, Microsoft Azure, RHCSA Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator, Cisco CCNA, Quality Matters APPQMR certification.
• Experience using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
