Job summary

CSN is seeking part-time instructors to teach Astronomy, Physics, and Engineering courses, primarily online with potential for online instruction, and to support online learning environments.

Responsibilities include developing syllabi, maintaining grades and records, evaluating student progress, advising, recruitment, and curriculum development across Clark County campuses. Instructors may teach day, evening, or weekend sessions to meet departmental needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in teaching field or cognate from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • MS or PhD in teaching field or cognate with a minimum of 18 graduate units in the discipline.
  • Ability to use educational technology (Word, PowerPoint) and Canvas LMS; ability to use campus email for official communication.

Job description

Part-Time Instructor, Astronomy, Physics, and Engineering - FY2027

CSN is seeking part-time instructors to teach Astronomy (AST), Physics (PHYS), and Engineering (CEE) courses, primarily in an online format, with potential opportunities for online instruction. Teaching assignments will include college-level courses in these disciplines, based on departmental needs.

Core Responsibilities
  • Teach college-level courses in the field.
  • Develop syllabi and course materials.
  • Maintain records, submit grades, and communicate with department and college personnel using established college/department protocol and college's learning management system.
  • Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes.
  • Provide an excellent teaching experience as well as student advisement, recruitment activities and program/curriculum development.
  • Teach at multiple campuses in Clark County.
  • Be available to teach day, evening and/or weekend courses.
Required Qualifications
  • For Lab Instructor: Bachelor's degree in the teaching field or a cognate discipline from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • For Lecture Instructor: Master of Science or PhD in the teaching field or a cognate discipline from a regionally accredited college or university, with a minimum 18 graduate units in the discipline.
  • For Both Lab Instructors and Lecture Instructors: Ability to use educational technology such as Word, PowerPoint, and Canvas LMS (learning management system); ability and willingness to use campus email for all official communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.
Salary

$925.00 per credit hour. Course/credits assigned may vary by semester.

Full-Time Equivalent: 47.5%
