Job summary

North Smithfield School Department seeks an Instructional Assistant for North Smithfield Elementary School. This is a part-time, grant-funded position in North Smithfield, RI, mornings, for 17.5 hours per week with 180 student days.

The role supports teachers by assisting with instruction and classroom activities. Qualifications include a High School Diploma (Associate degree preferred) and completion of a RIDE-approved Teacher Assistant Training Program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate Degree preferred.
• Must meet one of: 2 years study in education-related field or an education degree or prove required knowledge through assessment (ParaPro or local standard).
• Successful completion of a RIDE-approved Teacher Assistant Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instructional activities under supervision of certified teachers.
• Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce concepts.
• Support classroom operations and documentation; communicate with staff, students and parents.
