Job summary

Whiting Community School District is seeking an Industrial Technology Teacher for a 3/8ths time position for the 2026/2027 school year. You will deliver instruction in CAD, woodworking, robotics, drafting, and related technology subjects to prepare students for careers or further education.

Responsible for safety, classroom management, and project-based learning in a lab/shop setting; collaborate with staff and community partners; maintain records and align to standards.

Qualifications

• Valid state teaching certification in Industrial Technology or Career & Technical Education (or eligibility to obtain).
• Knowledge of industrial and technological fields such as construction, woodworking, drafting, CAD, robotics, or engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards, school curriculum, and industry practices.
• Teach courses such as woodworking, construction, manufacturing, CAD, robotics, engineering, or other related industrial technology areas.
• Instruct students in the safe and proper use of tools, machinery, and technology.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped classroom and laboratory/shop environment.
• Integrate real-world applications and project-based learning to enhance student engagement.
• Assess student performance using a variety of methods and provide timely feedback.
• Promote career readiness by introducing students to industry practices and workplace expectations.
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and community/industry partners to support student learning and program growth.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance in accordance with school policies.
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners.
• Participate in professional development, school events, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
