Job summary

MedVet is seeking a Part Time Nursing and ICU Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our emergency and specialty team. The role includes ICU shifts on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7a to 7p, with opportunities to support a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Requirements include RVT licensure and prior veterinary experience, preferably in emergency care. The position offers shift differentials and a collaborative team atmosphere at MedVet facilities.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license is required.
• Prior veterinary experience is required; emergency experience is desirable.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions, etc.).
• Flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
