Job summary

Glencoe Park District seeks a part-time Skate Guard to support daily ice rink operations at Weinberg Family Recreation Center, delivering friendly customer service while enforcing safety rules.

Under supervision of Ice Rink Manager and Assistant, you’ll monitor skaters, handle safety checks, assist with setup and maintenance, and answer patron questions. Evening, weekend, and some holiday hours apply; pay starts at $15/hour with a $15–$20/hour scale and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old or older.
• Have at one year of skating experience.
• Must possess CPR/AED/First Aid Certification or willing to obtain within one month of hire.
• All employees must pass a Criminal Background check, which the Glencoe Park District will cover.
• Safety-minded with the ability to enforce rink rules and provide customer service.

Responsibilities

• Enforce rules and regulations appropriate to the ice rink.
• Handle all contacts with the public pleasantly and professionally.
• Remain on duty in assigned area for the entire assignment period.
• Monitor participants and assist skaters who fall, reporting injuries if any.
• Set up and organize daily ice rink activities and assist with maintenance.
• Answer patron questions and participate in special events.
