Job summary

West Michigan Construction Institute (WMCI) is seeking a Part-Time HVACR Instructor to deliver evening-based instruction to adult students in our new HVACR Program. You will connect real-world HVACR experience with practical applications in a hands-on learning environment.

Responsibilities include delivering NCCER curriculum, maintaining accurate attendance and grades, and guiding learners toward industry readiness while upholding WMCI's safety and program standards.

• Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to adult learners.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Part-Time HVACR Instructor at WMCI, you'll play a key role in shaping the next generation of HVACR professionals. This hands-on, evening-based role focuses on delivering high-quality instruction to adult students enrolled in our new HVACR Program.

You’ll bring the classroom to life by connecting real-world HVACR experience with practical application, helping students build both technical knowledge and confidence as they advance in the trade.

In this role, you will:

• Instruct and Inspire: Deliver engaging National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum, helping students connect theory to real-world jobsite application.
• Create Dynamic Learning Environments: Foster a professional, respectful classroom and lab setting where adult learners feel supported, challenged, and motivated to grow.
• Bridge Classroom and Field: Lead hands-on lab activities that reinforce key HVACR concepts, tools, and troubleshooting skills.
• Lead with Precision: Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress, ensuring alignment with apprenticeship program requirements.
• Ensure Excellence: Participate in required professional development days and uphold WMCI's standards for safety, instruction, and program delivery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Industry Experience: Minimum of five years of field experience in the HVACR trade.
• Instructional Ability: Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience preferred; ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to adult learners is essential.
