Job summary

The Salvation Army’s Waltham Corps. is seeking a Hope Kitchen Coordinator & Cook to oversee the daily operations of the Hope Kitchen at 33 Myrtle Street in Waltham, MA. This part-time role offers 27.5 hours per week with a pay range of $15.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

You will prepare and cook meals, train and supervise volunteers, and maintain kitchen safety while coordinating with pantry staff to support the mission of serving those in need.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalence is required.
• Some practical training in social work is preferable.
• Certification for Food Produce Safety is required.
• Certification in Safe Serve approved by Department of Health is required.
• Training in maintaining a clean environment for good food preparation is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals for programs.
• Clean and maintain Hope Kitchen facilities neat.
• Keep sign-in book for meals served current.
• Keep a record/sign-up of baked goods given to Food Pantry clients.
• Develop and implement a monthly menu with the CO.
• Maintain list of needed items and coordinate with Office Manager for purchases.
• Work with Pantry Worker to keep cupboards stocked and notify shortages.
• Train and supervise volunteers serving at the Hope Kitchen.
• Maintain volunteer sign-in records and hours volunteered.
• Ensure garbage receptacles are emptied and cleaned daily.
• Represent The Salvation Army’s spiritual and social mission in the community.
