Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program.
• Successful completion of the National Praxis Examination.
• Successful completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year.
• One year of experience in a clinical setting required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver dynamic clinical speech-language pathology services to HFHS patients.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and HFHS staff to address communication and swallowing challenges.
• Diagnose speech, language, and swallowing disorders and evaluate prognosis.
• Create customized treatment and therapy programs that get results.
• Schedule and conduct follow-up visits with patients.
• Master clinical equipment to measure speech production during evaluations and treatment.
• Perform endoscopic assessments of vocal fold vibratory function and swallowing function.
• Partner with dietary personnel to develop menus for swallowing challenges.
• Empower patients by prescribing communication technology after cancer or laryngeal surgery.
• Educate patients to use new tools and develop stronger communication skills.
• Champion departmental growth through education and research programs.
• Lead and mentor graduate students and clinical fellows with scheduling and feedback.
• Represent HFHS at conferences educating organizations about programs.
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
