Job summary

UCI Health's histology laboratory seeks a Histotechnologist to prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. The incumbent will collect, accept and recognize specimens as they arrive, assist in selecting fixatives, embed and section, stain and mount slides from surgical, neurological, bone marrow, and autopsy tissues to demonstrate disease presence or absence.

Responsibilities

• The Histotechnologist prepares and processes tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist.
• Collects, accepts and recognizes specimens as they arrive in the lab and assists in selecting appropriate fixatives.
• Embeds and cuts sections, stains and mounts slides from surgical, neurological, bone marrow, and autopsy tissues to demonstrate disease presence or absence.
• Performs duties in the frozen section area as needed and maintains inventory, equipment, and Quality Control records.
