Job summary

SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School is seeking part-time substitute teachers for grades 9–12 for the 2024-2025 academic year. Shifts may vary and substitutes are on-call as needed, with duties focusing on maintaining instructional continuity in absence of regular faculty.

The role requires an Illinois substitute teacher certificate and strong communication skills. Training includes behavior management and implementation of classroom strategies to support student learning.

Qualifications

• Illinois substitute teacher certificate through the Illinois Department of Education.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of instructional technology tools and data-driven decision making.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products and able to learn computerized instruction software packages.

Responsibilities

• Carry out duties typical of a secondary substitute teacher for grades 9–12.
• Be punctual for all required meetings, classes and duty assignments.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to develop critical thinking and problem solving.
• Maintain classroom behavior and supervise students at all times.
