Job summary

Oakland Unified School District's Oakland Athletic League at Oakland Tech (Winter 2026) seeks an Athletic Coach - Coed Cheerleader Sponsor. This part-time role begins immediately, contingent on enrollment and schedules for the season.

Responsibilities include instructing and coaching the sport, helping arrange schedules, and fulfilling coaching duties; attendance at required meetings and trainings per OAL guidelines. Preference given to certificated district employees with CA credential.

Qualifications

• Applicants must provide evidence of coaching theory and techniques.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations of the sport at the high school level.
• Knowledge of adolescent psychology as it relates to sports participation.
• Knowledge, skill and ability to maintain safety in all aspects of coaching.
• Demonstrated high ethical standards related to sportsmanship and communication with parents/staff.
• Ability to communicate with parents/guardians and staff regarding problems or emergencies.
• Knowledge of CIF policies related to athletics.
• Previous successful coaching experiences at the district/site level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and coach students in the sport indicated.
• Help arrange playing schedules.
• Perform/assist in all coaching responsibilities associated with the position.
• Attend all required meetings and trainings as specified by OAL
