Job summary

Compass Group USA is hiring a part-time Helper Cook for East Windsor Regional School District, Hightstown, NJ. The role supports preparation and cooking of meals with a focus on safety and quality, working 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Prior food service experience is preferred and online applications are accepted. Pay ranges from $17.85 to $19.85 per hour with benefits available for associates and a referral program for internal staff.

Qualifications

• Prior food service experience is preferred.
• Willingness to learn kitchen procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Reads menu to estimate food requirements and orders from supplier or procurement.
• Prepares and cooks food according to recipes and production records.
• Adjusts oven temperatures and cooking equipment as directed.
• Measures and mixes ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Bakes, roasts, broils and steams meats, fish and vegetables under supervision.
• Tastes and tests food for proper cooking.
• Carves meat and portions food with gravies and garnishes as directed.
• Cleans and prepares fruit and vegetables; handles sanitation standards.
• Maintains work area and equipment; follows safety standards.
• Interacts with customers and coworkers in a courteous manner.
• Adheres to service standards, inventory controls and cash handling procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
