Job summary

Avamere Richmond Beach Rehab in Shoreline, WA is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare meals for residents under the Culinary Services Manager. You will assist with inventory, ensure proper diets, and maintain sanitation and safety per state and federal regulations.

The role requires about one year of quantity food preparation experience, a current Food Handlers card, and CPR/BLS certification. Schedule is Tue–Thu 10:30 AM–7:00 PM, wage $22/hour, with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail for reading recipes and timing
• Current Food Handlers card from local Health Dept.
• Active CPR/BLS certification required
• About one year of institutional food prep experience preferred
• Demonstrates initiative and sound judgment in meal setup and using leftovers
• Competency with operating kitchen equipment
• Good interpersonal skills with staff and other departments
• Knowledge of dietary practices and nursing home operations regulations

Responsibilities

• Review menus and follow recipes during food preparation.
• Manage purchased food and dietary supplies to control waste.
• Maintain portion control and ensure proper temperatures per health regulations.
• Inspect special diets trays for accuracy.
• Maintain storage standards and assist in receiving and stocking supplies.
• Assist in establishing food production lines to meet meal times.
• Orient and coach staff on sanitation, safety, and equipment use.
• In supervisor's absence, ensure smooth department operation and coordinate activities.
