Job summary

Communityactionallegan is seeking a Head Start Center Assistant to support bus and classroom activities in a part-time, hourly role. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, CPR/First Aid certification, a TB test, and prior experience with young children. A CDA credential is preferred.

Responsibilities include supervising children on the bus, assisting with meals, supporting classroom activities, and ensuring safety and confidentiality. Compliance with regulations is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDA credential preferred.
• Pre-employment TB test required.
• CPR and Basic First Aid certification required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Rides the bus to/from centers and assists children boarding/exiting as needed.
• Ensures children are secured in appropriate restraints on the bus.
• Engages children in activities to support literacy and language development.
• Assists bus driver with emergency evacuation drills and pre-/post-trip inspections.
• Prepares and serves meals and maintains sanitation during food preparation and service.
• Assists teacher with classroom activities and maintains confidentiality.
• Attends staff meetings and ensures compliance with regulations.
