Job summary

Saint Joseph’s University's Department of Art & Art History seeks an adjunct to teach Graphic Design courses on a semester-by-semester basis. In-person instruction, develop syllabi, deliver engaging studio-based lessons, and assess student work.

Minimum qualifications include MFA in Graphic Design or equivalent professional experience; professional design experience; proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud. Prior college teaching is a plus.

Qualifications

• Required MFA in Graphic Design or closely related field or equivalent professional experience.
• Professional experience in graphic design, visual communication, or related creative industries.
• Proficiency with industry-standard software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and guidance to students
• Instruct an assigned course providing syllabi and other instructional materials
• Use of university learning management systems to deliver instruction
• Teaching assigned graphic design course(s)
• Preparing course materials, assignments, and assessments
• Providing guidance, feedback, and mentorship to students
• Holding regular office hours
• Reporting mid-semester and final grades electronically
• Using Canvas or another learning management system
• Maintaining consistent communication with students
• Participating in occasional meetings with the Department Chair or program faculty
• Collaborating with course coordinators to ensure curricular consistency and quality
• Supporting departmental goals related to student learning and engagement
