Position Title: Adjunct, Graphic Design Time Type: Part time Position Summary and Qualifications: Saint Joseph’s University’s Department of Art & Art History has a need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to teach Graphic Design courses on a semester-by-semester basis. Likely assignments include introductory and intermediate graphic design courses, depending on departmental needs. Part-time adjunct faculty will teach assigned graphic design courses, support student learning, and foster an inclusive, studio-focused classroom environment. Course assignments may vary each semester and encompass a range of design topics, with the expectation that instructors bring contemporary professional insight and pedagogical clarity to the classroom. Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) offers a wide variety of bachelor's, master's, doctoral, associate, and certificate programs. With a commitment to personalized attention through a low faculty to student ratio, SJU may call on the expertise of adjunct instructors to complement the work of full-time faculty across all of its colleges and schools. SJU appoints part-time, non-tenure track adjunct instructors on a semester-to-semester basis with no guarantee of consecutive appointments. Re-appointment is based on university need, student enrollment, and satisfactory performance. Applicants for these positions are screened on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the department chair. Compensation for adjunct instructors is commensurate with educational credentials, professional, experience and instructional background. Adjunct instructors are bound to the terms and conditions of employment at Saint Joseph’s University, including but not limited to the Faculty Handbook.
